The Retired Women Teachers of Ontario / Organisation des enseignantes retraitées de l’Ontario
We are a welcoming organization of 50 that brings retired women together through friendship, fellowship and community involvement. Our 4 luncheon meetings are an opportunity to enjoy good company, socialize with one another and hear from interesting local speakers who share their knowledge, experiences and stories.
Giving back to our community is an important part of who we are. When a guest speaker represents a charitable organization, our members have the opportunity to contribute through personal donations. In this way, we not only learn about the wonderful work being done in our community, but also help make a difference.
Our caring extends beyond our regular meetings. We make an effort to stay connected with members and friends who are unable to attend, ensuring that they continue to feel remembered and included. We also reach out to and support our members who are dealing with illness, offering encouragement and letting them know that they are in our thoughts. We celebrate special milestones by sending birthday cards to those aged 80 and over, and we offer our sympathy and support through condolence cards when someone experiences a loss.
Throughout the year, we have special gatherings that members look forward to: our Branch Lunch Club which meets on the third Thursday of every month, Dinner Theatres, Afternoon Teas, etc.
At the heart of our organization is a simple belief: friendship matters, community matters, and caring for others matters. We enjoy coming together, supporting one another and finding meaningful ways to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
